Have Realistic Expectations for Weight Loss


It’s that time of year when I start getting a lot of calls for weight loss.  Many times these clients want a miracle.  They want to lose 20/30/40 lbs. in a few weeks.  It’s not going to happen.  Be realistic in your expectations.  Expect to lose 6 to 8 pounds a month.  One of the most common reasons people fail with any weight loss program is that they have unrealistic expectations of the program and themselves.  You didn’t put the weight on in a few weeks so why would you expect to lose it in that amount of time.  As long as you”re losing a few pounds a month, give yourself a pat on the back.  Always remember the story of the tortoise and the hare and who won.
